If traffic becomes too congested, entry to portions of the park may be temporarily suspended until traffic clears. Likewise, motorists must pay attention to pedestrian and bicyclist safety in road corridors. With high vehicular traffic expected, walkers and cyclists must adhere to safety requirements along roadways and proceed single file to reduce potential conflicts with vehicles. Once full, additional vehicles can only be allowed in that area after parking spaces become available. As in any winter season, visitors should check and plan for conditions such as ice, snow, and cold temperatures.ĭuring shuttle and non-shuttle times, parking will fill early. ![]() The park always recommends that visitors plan ahead and check the park website before their visit at nps.gov/zion to see what activities are currently available and what facilities may be open or closed. There is plenty more to see, but we only had one day available for the park.SPRINGDALE, UT – The following provides an overview of upcoming shuttle service operations in Zion National Park that will occur in February, March, and April 2021. Shoes ARE necessary, just bring your own! We even rode into Springdale for some food and drinks for the 2 hours between the Watchman’s trail hike and the start of our “The Narrows” river walk. You can otherwise rent the shoes and neoprene socks at the bike livery, but it is unnecessary in my opinion. Bring water shoes or old running shoes, it is rocky and has a smooth/slippery bottom. NOTE: The Narrows hike is IN the river (ankle to knee high water). The 10 mile downhill bike ride, back to the Park entrance was a blast! I felt bad for those we passed riding it uphill, on our way down! We could NOT have done all this w/o the bicycles, or the use of the shuttle bus to take the bikes (and us) to the last stop for “The Narrows” hike. We loaded our bikes on the shuttle bus for the uphill ride to the last stop (10 miles away) to begin our “The Narrows” hike. It's about as close to a “technical hike/climb” as you can imagine! We biked the Pa'rus trail, and we then hiked the beautiful, slightly challenging Watchman’s Trail. The treacherous Angel’s Landing hike was closed due to Corona-19. They sell out fast! We were able to do 3 hikes (one easy (Pa’rus Trail), one intermediate (Watchman’s Trail), and one (The Narrows) classified as difficult (note, we only did part of this one, but it included the mile walk to the river, and then about 1/4 mike in the river). Buy the 1.00 / ride park shuttle-bus pass ahead of time online. Congress! The ranger said “if you want to pay, come back tomorrow!” Tips for a one day visit: Rent a bicycle ($35/ day)! We could never covered so much by just walking. We expected to pay the $20 / person one day Park admission fee, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out from the ranger at the gate that “today” was free admission gratis of the U.S. ![]() It is $25 for the day, but just pay it, and forget it! We parked in the lot right at the park entrance. Arriving just before 8:00 am, we easily found parking. We adequately researched the area which allowed us to fully maximize the use of our limited time. The evening before the visit we drove to Springdale to get a feel for the area, and checkout parking, restaurants and bike rental options. We had one day for a visit to Zion National Park. ![]()
